Duct Tape Strain – Everything You Need To Know

Most strains of marijuana are pretty aptly named if it’s not referring to its flavor, then it’s usually a pretty good reference to the effects that you’ll feel. And this Duct Tape strain is no exception.

Duct Tape Strain - Everything You Need To Know

But how can you feel like duct tape? You ask. Good question, really, because you can’t. But let’s put it this way when almost anything needs fixing, duct tape always comes to the rescue. And so does this strain.

Duct Tape is used to help battle many ailments including anxiety, stress, pain, depression, and insomnia.

And, oh, did I forget to mention? After a good few tokes on this bad boy, you’ll feel as if someone has bound your body to the couch with duct tape. Getting up is going to feel pretty impossible.

You’ll definitely want to pace yourself with this strain because it’s potent, heavy-hitting, and fast-striking.

And, to be honest,  if I were you, I’d only smoke this moderately indica-dominated bud as your day starts to draw to a close. You won’t get anything done otherwise.

Strain Information

Duct Tape is a hybrid strain that comes from two very popular strains; Do-Si-Dos and Gorilla Glue #4.

It just tops the scales as more indica dominant than sativa so while you’ll still get that euphoric and creative mind, you’ll also have a full-body high that confines you to your couch.

It has a CBD level of just 1% but a THC level of between 23 and 25% so it’s pretty strong. If you have no tolerance for cannabis, you might want to avoid this strain for now.

Or at the very least, take it extremely slow. If you’re an experienced smoker, it should be a pretty enjoyable high, but again, I would still recommend that you slowly savor this strain.

Appearance & Smell

This bud has a pretty unique aroma. It’s pretty strong and will flood the room quickly with its fuel, pine, and chocolate scent. And it tastes just as intoxicating as it smells.

The piney and chocolatey flavors come through and allow for an overall really pleasant smoking expierence.

In terms of appearance, it’s a beautiful bud. It has fluffy and light-green buds that are covered in fine bright orange hairs. It is also covered in ice-white frosty trichomes. It’s almost too good to grind. Almost.

How You’ll Feel

So what will you feel like once you’ve puff-puff-passed this strain around? At first, a very calm and serene feeling will flood your entire body.

Then you’ll start to notice a tingling sensation over your body that is pleasant and enjoyable. You should also start to notice that your brain also starts to change. Your mood will skyrocket and creative energy will flow easily and effortlessly.

You’ll be super relaxed, blissfully happy, and well…very baked. Ensure that you find yourself a comfy spot and settle in with plenty of snacks and drinks around you (the munchies and cottonmouth with this strain are pretty hardcore) because pretty soon you won’t be moving all that much.

Medicinal Purposes

There are many different ways that this strand may be able to help you. The first thing to remember is that it is a full-body relaxant.

Your whole body feels as if it slumps and melts into the couch and because of this, it can be a really great option for those with chronic pain.

It’s also indica-dominant and is pretty well-known for sending you off the land of slumber. So it’s also pretty popular amongst those with sleep disorders such as insomnia.

It can also be a good option for those struggling with a lack of appetite or nausea since it intensely stimulates hunger.

Its relaxing, calming, and euphoric properties have also been known to help those with depression, anxiety, stress, and PMS.

You should always consult a medical professional before using marijuana for medicinal purposes.

Adverse Reactions

Adverse Reactions

Now, with a strain as powerful as this, you can always expect a couple of noticeable effects that won’t always be the most pleasant.

The first thing to note is that it can quite easily send you straight to sleep. Many have commented on its powerful sedation force. Some even describe it as a tranquilizer effect. So for this reason, I really wouldn’t recommend it for a daytime smoke.

You also want to ensure that you’ve got yourself quite the collection of snacks and drinks before you begin smoking. This stain can stimulate hunger like you’ve never seen before.

Think Mega-Munchies. It can also cause a pretty uncomfortable cottonmouth feeling, so you’ll want to ensure that you’re constantly hydrating.

It can also cause dry and uncomfortable eyes, along with some feelings of anxiety and paranoia in some cases. You’ll want to start slow and work your way up to try and alleviate these feelings.

Growing Duct Tape

This strain is fairly easy to grow. It really doesn’t take all that much effort, and the effort you do put in is massively rewarded. You’ll produce a huge yield from your grow.

While I’ve found tons of evidence supporting both an impressive indoor and outdoor yield, the exact numbers are yet to be determined.

However, as a general rule of thumb, you can expect around one ounce of Duct Tape for every square foot of grow.

Since it’s pretty low-maintenance, it’s suitable for any grower regardless of their experience providing adequate research and planning are done.

As I’ve mentioned before, it can be grown indoors or outdoors, but really it needs to have a constant humidity level of around 55% along with a daytime temperature of 76 degrees Fahrenheit and a nighttime temperature of 69 degrees. It’ll also need plenty of water.

On average, this strain grows to be around 48 inches tall but you will need to regularly maintain the plant by training, trimming, or topping it.

In order to reach the maximum yield potential, you’ll also want to ensure that the entire plant has access to light. The main issue you’ll face here is the larger buds growing at the top of the plant blocking the light for the bottom of the plant.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Long Does It Take Duct Tape Strain To Flower?

It will typically take around 10 weeks for this plant to flower and it will yield approximately one ounce per square foot. However, given the right conditions, you may be able to get this plant to flower within 5-6 weeks.

How Good Is Duct Tape Strain?

Everybody has their own personal preferences when it comes to strains. But Duct Tape is potent, powerful, and hard-hitting. Its effects take place quickly and are long-lasting.

All of these attributes make it quite a popular strain amongst more experienced smokers. It is most likely, in my opinion,  a little too strong for an inexperienced smoker though.

Is Duct Tape The Strongest Strain On The Market?

No, it’s not a hundred miles away though. As of right now, the strongest strain on the market is Godfather OG which has a 34% THC concentration.

Duct tape has around a 23-25% THC concentration. So it is definitely up there in terms of strength as a strong contender, but there are stronger options on the market.

Is Duct Tape An Indica Or Sativa?

Duct tape is a hybrid that comes in very balanced at a 50:50 ratio. However, it is arguable that it is ever so slightly more indica dominant. This can also be seen through its strong sedation properties.

Why Is It Called Duct Tape?

There’s no definitive answer here. Some claim that it is due to its powerful and potent effects that have you feeling stuck to the floor.

Others say that it comes from the stickiness of the bud while others say that it relates to its parent-strain Gorilla Glue. However, this is all just speculation and assumptions.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a strain to smoke as the day draws to a close then this is a pretty great option. You’ll be sure to spend your night chilling out on the couch snacking and snoozing.

Whether you make it to your bed that evening, well, that’ll depend on how much you smoke.

But this bud with its beautiful appearance, delicious aroma, and amazing high is definitely worth a try. Just be cautious when doing so, especially if you’re new to smoking, because it’s a quick-hitting and long-lasting high to ride out. But overall, the euphoric head-high and totally relaxed body-high is a very pleasurable experience.

It is also super low-maintenance in terms of growing it, and yet you’ll still reap a really high reward from doing so. So it’s really a win-win all around.

So if you haven’t already, give Duct Tape a try next time you smoke and set yourself off for a blissful and beautiful experience.
