Fatso Strain – Everything You Need To Know

Fatso…I’ll admit I’ve heard some weird and wonderful names for different strains over the years, and they keep getting more and more creative. But this one has to be one of my favorites.

Fatso Strain - Everything You Need To Know

I’m not totally sure where the name is derived from, maybe it’s a reference to the heavy high you’ll feel from this potent strain. Maybe it’s because after a good few tokes you’ll be sinking right down into the sofa? I don’t know, I can only speculate.

But what I do know is that this powerful strain offers a thick and dense bud that offers tons of rich flavors and aromas, and has the ability to knock you out cold.

If you’re interested in learning more about what this strangely-named strain has to offer then you’ll want to keep reading!

This Strain Is A Rare Find

This strain is really unlike any other but getting your hands on it is going to be tricky since Cannarado Genetics, the creator of this strain, has since discontinued its supply.

This has made the GMO Cookies and Legends OG hybrid strain even more popular, in demand, and valuable.

It’s had a variety of names over the years; Fatso, Fatso OG, and Fatso Kush. And everybody is just dying to get their hands on it and give it a try.

But is it just the fact that it is basically a limited edition strain that’s got everybody going crazy? Or is it really just that good? Let’s learn more about it and find out.

Appearance, Aroma, & Flavor

Perhaps Fatso gets its name from the appearance of its bud? One look at this thick, chunky, and dense bud, and you’ll understand my assumption.

I’m not even exaggerating when I say that the buds from these whoppingly big plants look like mini Christmas trees. They’re huge and fuzzy, and honestly, they look fantastic.

They are predominantly green with both pale and medium shades coming through. But you can also see an obvious yellow shade snaking its way through the body of the bud along with these little orange hairs that add a real dynamic contrast.

And as you’d expect from a big boy like this, the bud has deep and rich flavors. If the smell of a hot cup of coffee in the morning is what gets you out of bed on a cold Monday, then you’ll adore the aroma of Fatso.

At first whiff, you get that hit of a big cup of Joe. Then it is followed by a strong scent of herby, spicy, and woody deliciousness.

When you combine all these scents together, you’re left with a truly unique aromatic experience that is both intoxicating and addictively delectable.

Most people will probably tell you that it tastes just like its smells too. And while they are not wrong, I do think that you gain a little extra from its flavor too. With each puff, you’re likely to notice new and different flavors that you hadn’t noticed before.

The first flavor that I noticed was a strong taste of diesel. As you continue smoking other flavors come into play then, such as lemon, a woody almost pine-like flavor, along with a very herbal taste.

Overall though, it’s a very enjoyable experience all around.

The High

New stoners beware of Fatso because you’re likely to be in a little over your head with this potent beast. And, for old-time smokers, all I can say is do not underestimate it.

Fatso is known for hitting its smokers and hitting them hard. I hope you like chilling on your couch because you won’t be leaving it anytime soon.

Not once the effects of this strong strain start to take place. And speaking of the effects taking place, they start immediately. Yeah, there’s no creeping into your system with this one. Fatso is bold and brash and lets his presence be noticed instantly.

The high itself is very intense, there’s no beating around the bush with it. But it does also involve a very uplifting, mood-boosting, and calming effect.

If you’re looking for relaxation, you’ve definitely come to the right place with this strain. In your mind, you’ll be in the most serene, happy, zen-like place you’ve ever been.

So much so, that you won’t have even had time to acknowledge the effects of the heavy body high that now have you bound and confined to your couch.

You’ll continue like this for some time, feeling blissfully happy and oh-so-relaxed until you eventually find yourself drifting straight off to sleep.

As I’ve mentioned, I’d definitely advise this strain only really being used by those that have experience with smoking and have a high THC tolerance. Some have reported that higher doses can cause both anxiety and paranoia.

If you are considering using Fatso for medicinal purposes, I would also recommend taking it slow and steady at first. While it can be great for pain relief and falling asleep, too much of the stuff and you’ll find yourself struggling with insomnia.

Medicinal Purposes

Medicinal Purposes

The Fatso strain has been used many times to aid different ailments.

Because it is so good at relaxing the body with that couch-locking heavy high, it can be really good for managing discomfort for those who have chronic pain.

It has also been reported to alleviate the symptoms of muscle spasms and cramps.

But that isn’t all that Fatso is good for. Due to its mood-enhancing, uplifting, blissful state-of-mind effect, it’s a really great option for those who suffer from anxiety, stress, and depression too.

It can give you that much-needed respite from negative and intrusive thoughts.

Again though, I would just like to stress that large doses of this strain can cause quite intense feelings of paranoia and anxiety. So if you do wish to take it for medicinal purposes, try a very weak smoke for your first try.

From there you can find what level you are at. But I’d hate for you to smoke this strain to cope with your anxiety only for it to be massively aggravated. So do please take caution when smoking.

Growing Fatso

As I mentioned earlier, this strain produces a fairly large yield, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a go. The buds that you’ll get from the plant will also be thick and dense so you’ll reap the rewards of giving it some TLC.

This strain can be grown indoors or outdoors, but you’ll definitely get the most from the plant when it is in a nice warm climate. Typically, you’ll be looking at anywhere from around 50-70 days for the plant to start flowering.

When it becomes time to harvest those big boy buds, you can expect one to two ounces per square foot if you’ve grown the plant indoors, and around 2-3 ounces per square foot if you have grown it outside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Fatso An Indica Or Sativa Strain?

This strain, made from GMO Cookies and Legends OG, is a hybrid strain that contains both indica and sativa properties. However, it is definitely Indica-dominant.

Expect those downer, relaxed, and sedated effects to take place almost immediately after puffing (see also “Is Hybrid An Upper Or Downer?“).

Is Fatso A Daytime Or Evening Strain?

100% an evening strain. I really wouldn’t recommend smoking this strain if you’ve got places to go or people to see – because none of it will happen.

This is the type of strain to smoke a couple of hours before bed so that you can reel in the high before slowly falling asleep.

What Is The THC Content In Fatso?

The Fatso strain is pretty potent coming in with a mid-twenties concentration level of 26%. Contrastingly it has a CBD concentration level of under 1%.

What Are Some Of The Adverse Side Effects Of Fatso?

Like with many high-THC strains, you can expect to have a dry mouth and dry eyes while smoking. High levels of the strain can also cause anxiety, paranoia, and insomnia.

Final Thoughts

If you are lucky enough to get your hands on this in-demand strain, you can look forward to a very euphoric and uplifting mindset that will take you into the skies in a dream-like state.

All the while, you’ll notice your body pulling you down deeper into the ground than you’ve ever gone before as you feel totally engulfed by your couch.

This high is definitely a unique experience and should be limited to the time constraints of the evening. There will definitely be no getting jobs done while you are puffing on this potent strain.

As I’ve mentioned throughout the article, due to its high THC content I wouldn’t recommend it for those new to smoking.

And those with medical ailments, especially sleeping disorders, should go easy and approach with caution because high quantities can cause insomnia, anxiety, and in some cases paranoia.

All in all, though, this strain creates a pretty great high unlike many of the other strains out there. I can definitely see why it’s so in demand. Why it got discontinued…I’m a little less sure.
